Dr. Francesco Bongiovanni is leading the Supercomputing Application Services group at LuxProvide. Prior to this, he has been leading the Data Services and Compute group for more than 2 years. He has been involved on the national HPC from the start in 2019, and as such, he is one of the main designers of MeluXina. From 2013 to 2020, he has been at LIST for 7.5 years, as a R&T associate specialized in distributed computing while managing the LIST HPC (which he designed) and setting up the LIST VizWall (which he co-designed). He had the privileged to work alongside researchers from various background (earth observation, AI, biology, chemistry, physics…) and helped them with their computational needs. He did two post-docs in 2012-2013, the first at INRIA Grenoble, in the ERODS research group, on cloud computing and the second at Verimag in the SYNCHRONE research group on the simulation of embedded systems. He got his Ph.D. from INRIA Sophia Antipolis in 2012 in the field of P2P systems and applied formal methods. During his Ph.D. he taught distributed algorithms and computer systems at the University of Nice-Sophia. He got his M.Sc. in distributed systems at KTH – Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden and his B.Sc. in computer systems from the Haute Ecole de Namur in Belgium.
